Weight lifting can be beneficial for treating back pain. If you have back pain, one of the suggested treatments is… weight lifting. This can seem strange, but back pain has many causes, and one of them is having a weak or unbalanced muscle core. This is composed of a series of muscles including the abs, oblique and back muscles, and provide the support for the spine.


 


High heels can damage the spine, but flats are not so beneficial either. Most women know that, while high heels makes them look great, they are not good for their backs and posture. So one can say that the opposite is better, such as flat shoes or sandals. However if these have no arch, the foot rolls inward when walking, transferring abnormal forces up to the knee and back, resulting in back pain.


 


Preparing the brain to block chronic pain. Chronic pain means that there is a body area, such as the back or joints, which generates the pain, and other area, such as the brain and nervous system, that receives it. What if you could calm or relax your nervous system to dampen the pain processing?

What is sciatica and how can it be treated? Sciatica is a pain felt in the course of the sciatic nerve. This is the longest nerve in the body, running from the lower back, inside the buttock, and to the lower leg. Since it begins on the lower back, it is related to lower back pain and also leg pain, but only one leg. It is caused by the irritation of nerves located in the lower spine, usually caused by misalignment of the spine. Want to do about it?

Running is an excellent exercise, but are you running correctly? As we age our soft tissues are less elastic, which increases the risk of injury. This means that we must pay more attention to the warm-up, stretching and cool-down. Also it is better not to land on the heels because it affects the spine.

This week we have interesting information on Back Pain


Portable devices have addicted us to technology. This has originated new health hazards, resulting in bad posture and repetitive movements. They even have new names, such as uch as neck-tech, that consists of head hanging, slouched shoulders and eyes fixed on the display, and wrist pain due to excess typing on small screens.


Men wear wallets in their back pocket. This is not  good idea, not only because the possibility of theft, but the wallet on the back pocket causes an asymmetry that alters the hip and pelvis position. This will result on back pain and inflammation of the sciatic nerve.


Most desk jobs mean sitting at a desk for long periods of time. This will cause back and neck pain. There are measures that will reduce the risk of back pain: take regular breaks, change position frequently in your seat, and stay hydrated.
